Full throttle creativity. Calm listening. Successful partnering.
Our clients know us for what we deliver. And we never, ever let them down.
As of 2015, we have a new name: Hillhouse Creative, based in Kingsport, Tennessee. But our legacy as a leading, full-service advertising and marketing firm in the South goes back more than 30 years. We’ve served clients as the award-winning Hillhouse Graphic Design LLC since 1984. In 2009, we also launched Hillhouse Video Works LLC as a niche business to help nonprofit organizations define their messaging via video.
Today, we’re melding our two entities under the Hillhouse Creative umbrella to express the true scope of our work. Yes, we’re still a full-service creative agency with vast experience, but we’re also your on-demand collaborator – patient, listening and thoughtfully strategizing solutions to help you successfully reach goals in a digital world. Our expertise spans the full gamut of media communications, including advertising, public relations, traditional and interactive web design, and all social media platforms.
Don’t know what you need or how to start? We guide you through the maze.
How We Got Here
Hillhouse Creative was founded by Jane Hillhouse, a Missouri native who held an art degree from Central Missouri State University and had six years under her belt as an advertising agency graphic designer. After opening her own shop (Hillhouse Graphic Design), Jane grew her business, becoming a limited liability company (LLC) in 2005, and four years later, launching Hillhouse Video Works, which became a limited liability company in 2014.
Today, we’re the oldest graphic design and marketing firm in the Tri-Cities region (Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia), serving clients across the South and eastern United States.
We’ve assisted literally hundreds of diverse businesses, individuals and organizations – ranging from noted writer Barbara Kingsolver, a Pulitzer Prize nominee, and Eastman Chemical Company, a global Fortune 500 company; to Mapes Piano String Company, one of the oldest and most successful makers of strings for musical instruments in the world.
Hillhouse Creative is always community-directed, a passion that led to the startup of our sister business, Hillhouse Video Works. This division helps nonprofits produce on-budget videos so they can compete successfully in our digital age. In 2014, Hillhouse Video released its first full-length documentary, “Outcasts: Surviving the Culture of Rejection” – a film about recidivism and the urgent need for criminal justice system reforms in America. The film was named an AVA Digital Platinum winner in 2015 by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals.
