The Ask

A Revitalized Look
Kingsport Cultural Arts was eager to breathe new life into the local arts scene, and their look needed an update to match that energy. Based on feedback from community members and the KCA team, we set out to design an updated website and a vibrant new logo. The goal? Create a central hub for their dynamic programs and initiatives, generate buzz within the community, and solidify their role as the heart of a thriving cultural arts movement in Kingsport.

Our Approach

The Logo

We began by collaborating with the organization to simplify their name from “Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts” to “Kingsport Cultural Arts,” creating a more approachable and inviting identity.

To complement this new direction, we gave their logo a facelift. The new logo incorporates elements of KCA’s prior logo and introduces a bold, modern font with organic curves. We chose an elevated primary color palette of red, blue, and yellow to speak to the tradition of art.

The Website

We developed an engaging, user-friendly website that not only showcases the organization’s identity but is also easy for the KCA team to maintain. The homepage and navigation menu were strategically designed to incorporate action-oriented words that reflect the many ways the community can engage with Kingsport’s art scene—whether creating, experiencing, or supporting the arts, there’s something for everyone.

Bringing it all together

The site highlights the updated logo, introduces a fresh design for the Kingsport ARTS initiative, and features an inviting color scheme and clear, concise messaging that aligns perfectly with their revitalized brand. We expanded the primary color palette with vibrant pops of green and pink, adding freshness and energy. We introduced hand-drawn elements throughout the site, incorporating illustrations, patterns, and texture that evoke pastel, watercolor, and colored pencil, maintaining a strong connection to the arts.

The Results

More clicks and more rentals

Within the first month of launching the new website, it racked up 400 clicks from Google Search! The community is loving it, and with the site being so much easier to navigate, more folks are booking the organization’s facilities. Talk about a win-win!

Streamworks

When the Tri-Cities TN/VA region was developing its new “STREAMWORKS” program to broaden educational outreach in the areas of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, they brought us in to assist with branding. We created an interactive brand with elements that are easily incorporated into student work and designed the program’s awards materials.

North Carolina Environmental Justice Network Website and Logo Design

As they celebrated their 24th anniversary, the North Carolina Environmental Justice Network wanted an updated logo and website that honored their roots, the work they do, and the future they fight for. Working together, we collaborated on a new logo and website that serve as a digital hub for environmental justice advocacy.
