The Health Wagon, based in Wise, Virginia, is a nonprofit saving lives in rural Appalachia. The organization offers free health care at its mobile and stationary clinics. Staff and volunteers also conduct medical outreach events throughout the region. To continue offering these services, the Health Wagon relies upon generous donations.
The Ask
A Phased Approach to Raising Funds
The Health Wagon’s biggest fundraising push is their end-of-year campaign. For their 2022 appeal, it was important to reach potential donors in a variety of ways. Some people like email, some prefer direct mail, and others favor social media. Like any nonprofit, it’s crucial for the Health Wagon to share their message in all these channels.
Our Approach
Reach Donors Through Multiple Channels
We designed a printed appeal piece that featured patient stories and a letter from the CEO. It also included a unique URL and QR code so it was easy to make donations. We wrote and designed an email series that the Health Wagon sent to their mailing list; and we designed templates they used on their social media pages. The last piece, a postcard, concluded the campaign by reminding people that it wasn’t too late to give.
The Results
More Donations, Resulting in More Care
Five people donated estates to the Health Wagon since the mailing went out. Donors also gave $25,000 more to the organization than the year before.
