Brickyard Park Pump Track
One of Kingsport, Tennessee’s newest recreational sites is the Brickyard Park Pump Track. The track allows cyclists to ride contours and control speed by “pumping” the bike. The state-of-the-art track is also great for skateboards, skates, rollerblades, scooters, and wheelchairs. Brickyard Park includes other active opportunities like ball fields and a skate park, and a large residential community will soon join the development.

The Ask
A Brand-Friendly Visual Identity
Because the pump track is a new addition to the park, it needed its own logo, but also needed to fit in with existing branding. Kingsport Parks & Rec requested an edgy, industrial look that would embrace both the history of the site as former General Shale Brick property and the growing Brickyard community.

Our Approach
A Design with Movement in Mind
In conceptualizing the logo design, we drew inspiration from the movement of tires on a path. We also incorporated bricks to honor the property’s history as the site of a brick manufacturer. The colors we chose — a medium gray, black, brick red, and indigo — tie in with existing logos throughout the park as well as the overall environment.

“We all like our new logo, and we hope to use it for a long time. We appreciate Hillhouse Creative’s willingness to collaborate with us and adapt to our evolving vision, which resulted in a final product that was exactly what we needed.”
